ok i took the plunge and went with my gut and bought what im sure i would need to install my kenwood stereo in
i went and bought this for the steering controls and im sure it also powers the headunit also

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251051403363

i noticed in the picture that it looking like it didnt have the ariel converter so i bought this also

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180770615706

also got the fascia to fit it all in.
is this all i need to put in and also is there an easier way to have the signal booster powered other than have to connect it to the cig lighter?

The singnal booster... This is in referal to the aireal I assume... Will answer that in a moment..

To break down your questions about what is needed (and this is assuming you have a full can bus car given it is a 54 plate)...

    1. You will need the ISO (from new head unit) to Fraquar Quadlock connector (Current full canbus waring loom) which included the stearing wheel adapter and patch lead... The one you have bought looks fine. I personaly would have gone for the Connects2 lead as it allows you to access the BC settings function via the stearing wheel conrols which is needed if you have the BC function (three line display etc)... Otherwise you will need to use opcom or plug your old radio back in to change the clock etc... That said if you have a two line display this doesn't matter.

    2. Facia adapter... loads out there of varying qualift and design... Find one you like and your sorted. For me it was a connects2 one I used...

    3. Aireal adapter.. Comes with a silver tube thing attached which I belive boosts the singnal at the head unit... Needs to be powered. To power it connect it to the AMP control wire of your head unit as this supplies all the power whcih is needed. I presently control both the amp and aireal boosted using this wire in my install and have never had signal loss of AMP issues..

Other than that would should be good to go.
