You may run into problems with the drivers not working or having XP compatiblity issues.. even ones that say they will work....

Windows 7 is good when you give it a chance.... Takes a bit of getting used to but once you start using it you will like it... Turst me on this.... The networking capabilities for file sharing between devices is excelent for example...!

You can also run an XP emulator on Windows7 for any old or uncompatible systems you there that you may have...

Ohhhh... and if you hate windows 7 wait till you see windows 8 (in beta testing right now)... They are tryying to adop the app functionality on the dektop... Ive been testing it in work for weeks now and can not get used to it...

Personaly I am waiting for the new Google OS as it looks like it will rock!

I would have to agree with Coldo, at first i was sceptical about moving from XP to Win7, but i wouldnt go back to XP now given the choice.

A bit of time and it will grow you you. As good as XP was, i have had Win7 installed for ages now, and unless i have inadvertantly caused a crash, it has never failed yet on me.

Give it a chance mate, i think you'll get to like it.

Windows 7 is by far and away the best operating system Microsoft have ever made, more reliable, easier to use and with a lot more functionality than any other of their systems to date. If you've got the option to have Windows 7, I'd be inclined to learn how to use it and the differences between it and XP (a now ten year old operating system), once you realise the added functionality it has and the ease of using that functionality you will probably never want to use XP again.

That said if you do insist on going back to XP it can be done, but not with an install disk supplied with a PC as that will almost definitely be OEM and tied to that hardware configuration, there's most definitely ways round that if you're so inclined, but if you want my recommendation use Windows 7, you'll learn to love it and realise you were wrong

Totally agree with Coldo on Windows 8 though, we've been testing it here at work since the developer preview came out a few months back and its awful as a desktop system. Great if you've got a touch screen, but no good for a serious desktop.

Or stick Ubuntu on! I've been dual-booting my pcs and laptops for years and find less reasons every time to use the windows OS unless you want to play games, and I use my xbox for that.

I'm not MS basher, I use MS/Apple/Linux every day!

There's only about 2 years of extended support left for XP so you might as well start getting used to a new OS now. As mentioned Win8 will be an even bigger learning curve from XP than Win7.
