    Default Question about GID...

Does the gid need to be told what size engine it is going to be calculating the data for? For example if it's came from a 3.2 GSI and is now fitted in a 1.8 SXI would the screen need to be told or does it just pull that data from the initial programming done?

    Thanksssss

As far as i know it needs to be set to pertol or to Diesel and that's about it.

The "other" software used on here gives only two options for this but i belive Tech2 gives more options... Not sure why...

Someone will be on shortly to confirm it for you bud...

Yeahhh I used the "other software" ad the only options I had was 007 and 008? Not sure what they mean but following the instructions I clicked the higher one... The only reason I ask is the GID when unplugged and put back I always goes back to 417 so not sure f it's programmed to a certain car which maximum miles out of the tank is 417 :s. lol but thanks for the reply dude. As always all replies are appreciated .

There are loads of different settings in Tech2, but if you are using that non supported programme from Ebay then its basically just the 2 settings. The GID I fitted came from a 3.2 and it works just fine in my 1.8.

The "other" one initialy and then had it checked by a friend with Tech2.

This one does get more confusing however...

I did a search and foudn this thread which sugested the 007 means no BC and the 008 means BC is present and nothing to do with the engine type...

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122042

    Then there is this one...

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125046

It sugestes the code index is to do with the type of car you have (estate, signum, hatch, ls etc...) and the link from the page is all forgen but using translator and my random head i would say if you have an Estate then the 008 code is best and if you have a hatch then the 007 is best...

    I think...

    God this is confusing lol....
