    Angry OLd Duffer Driver!!!

An old duffer in a jeep cherokee didnt see me (in a silver gsi in broad daylight!!!) today. He has ripped off my rear bumper gouged one alloy also minor damage to the bodywork under where the bumper fits at the side.
He says if it is below £1000 he will pay rather than use insurance.
I dont know alot about bodywork but it will be more than £1K surely?
I will claim on my insurance if need be.
Off to local body shop in morning.
I would put pics on but just checked my phone all ive got is bottom of my car and rest of my thumb!

Reckon it will be more than a grand if bumper needs replacing, spraying, alloy needs replacing and straightening other body work. Just been quoted £200 today just to respray rear nearsdie door and quarter panel after a cyclist ran into me.

If the work was to be carried out by insurance, they will replace new for old, don't settle for 2nd hand parts to fix your car, make sure all is replaced new for old

    True mate he hit me.
If I have to I will claim and let the insurers sort it out.
He said it was only his 2nd accident in 40 years, dont know how!!!
Apparantly his insurance is only £260 should be £2600!

Don't rely on the other drivers word that he'll pay up.
Some years ago I had a guy come round the corner straight into my parked car (I was inside having a brew at the time). He didn't want to claim on his insurance and I stupidly agreed that this was OK. I got the car repaired and the garage who did the job wouldn't release the car to me because he hadn't paid up!

I had to get the police involved in the end. It worked out OK but never ever again would I agree to something like this.

    Definatley stick with the insurance.

If you think you can fix it with second hand parts yourself, once a figure is agreed with the insurance company, 'take payment in lue of repair' do it yourself and trouser the difference
