I only saw it with the sound turned down but from what I could gather some bloke ordered an Insignia from Amazon. When it turned up he wasn't happy with the box firstly because it was too big and secondly because it was on fire.

They then cut to some photos of a burnt out engine bay and some celebrity dancing chap but that was deleted in case he was trading.

That bloke from the money saving site then appeared and held up a calculator with 1500 on it. I'm guessing that was something to do with the number of Renaults that caught during the show.

At that point I had to abandon the telly as my Insignia spontaneously combusted and melted the driveway. I'm not happy with Vauxhall at all because that driveway was my pride and joy. ********.

ffs ! there are loads of insignias round here and i own one of them ! considering i'm in the fire service , i've not yet had to put one out ! usual scare mongering , they only make a fuss of the juicy stuff , never mention the VAG timing tensioner that fails without warning at any milleage and destroys the engine ! i could go on but its realy not worth it ! i love my insignia , end of

Typical VX response, they were the same with the fuel pumps on the Vec and the wipers. Accept no liability for poor / bad design

How many threads are there on this? Lol.

I just spoke to VX and my car is outside the build range affected. Mine was built in June 2010 so it's a 10.5MY if that helps anyone else.

I did ask about the build dates but he didn't have that information to hand and I needed to go. However I suggested that VX put a statement out identifying the exact dates that are affected to save any further confusion. They probably won't but I asked anyway.

vauxhalls have been leaking stuff onto the exhausts for years
the astra h and many of the ecotech lumps have the oil pressure switch right above the manifold
and we know how good vauxhall oil switches are lol

seen a few with melted rocker covers and burnt bonnets lol

Just robbed this off the insignia owners club so hope it puts peoples minds at ease!

OK an update - VX have been instructing the rework to be done during routine service. It affects a p/s pipe that may be routed too close to the exhaust.

Cars affected are diesel with vin no between 91005347 and A1084519. Cars that have been reworked should be identified with a green paint spot on the p/s fluid reservoir cap.

The Tech Service Bulletin dated Oct 2011 No 11-P-011 or GWM No E110060 identified this.
