Default cdti 150 turns but wont fire :(

    wee problem with my 150

been running fine all morning nipped to the shop parked up came back out 30 seconds later and the bleeding thing wont start.

The car turns over but does not want to fire, it was running fine not 30 seconds previous to this and tbh i'm baffled

a quick check shows the belt is turning and is intact so no panic yet.
not a fuel issue as i filled up 2 days ago and still have 3/4 of a tank.

checked fuel pump fuse and seems fine(swapped for another just to be sure

disconnected the AFM as google suggested this can cause a non start, car wont start connected or not.

any suggestions on what to try next Vec-C?

dont have access to a code reader until later on tonight but it seems a strange one

If you bounced up a kerb it could be fuel pump knock sensor.
Not sure if the diesel models has one or not .
It's designed to cut the fuel off incase of an accident.

    nope no kerbs involved,

parked up a good 6 inches from the kerb, switched off, then wouldnt start 30 seconds later

The only time this has happened to me (twice!) is the crank sensor in the girlfriends corsa failing, its a petrol though, not sure if it could be the same problem as your having but thought I would mention it!

How new is the battery in your remote? Could it be the immobiliser?

Try your spare key and remote.

similar thing happened to er indoors old car...... if the engine is turning ove rquite fast then it could well be the timing belt...... she was juts pulling up and befor she parked fully the car lost power, so she tried starting it a few times and it wouldnt, which is probably what ended up destroying the vavles....

hopefully this isnt the case for you, but if its spinning very fast when you try and turn it over then stop what you're doing and check the belt!

Does it sound like the engine is struggling to get air in? look up the throttle valve fault, the valve can fail and the butterfly valve slams shut in the intake stopping it getting any air. Unplugging it is a quick fix.

I would also think it is the crankshaft Sensor, they tend to need cleaning every 2 or3 years.
