    Default "Check Safeguard"

    Heyyy guys,
Just after a bit of advice, I did the TID to GID mod yesterday and all is well and working, Managed to get it all programmed in with the washer bottle sensor added aswell.
The only problem I have is when I switch the car on I get the check safeguard message on screen every single time... It's not a huge problem as you can just tell it to go away but I'd like to find out what the problem is...
I've done a search on the forum but most threads are about estates... Mine being a hatchback it doesn't really help...
So my question is... Anyone got any idea as to where I should be looking to fix it?

    Thanks in advanced

Well I'm sure you know its to do with the alarm from your searches. Same applies to the hatchback window if the de-mister connection comes loose. The fault could also be the interior sensors just infront of your interior light.

Oh so it applies to hatchback too, was under the impression that it only applies to estates for some reason... i've noticed that a few of the de-mister "lines" don't function... could this be the cause of it? Is it worth leaving the battery unplugged for half hour or so to see if it sorts itself out?
    Thanks againn

looks like its the de-mister. The lines act as a circut so If your window is broken the element line are broken and the alarm goes off. Check all wires at rear window.

Remove the connection either side and connect a piece of wire across them
If safeguard doesnt come up its the rear screen
That's the easiest way to check it

Several things have to be working for the alarm to set without the 'Check Safeguard' message on the hatch/saloon:

    Bonnet open switch
    Ultrasonic motion detectors
    Rear screen demister
    Siren

Usual fault is the ultrasonics. Try setting the alarm with them disabled (press the alarm switch on the dash, then get out, shut the door and lock it). Then leave it a minute or two to settle (so the alarm light is flashing) and unlock it. Does the warning message come up now?

If not, then take out the interior light and unplug the ultrasonic sensors. Plug them back in and reassemble. Now try it. That worked for me

Now that you mention all those things count towards the safeguard message.. maybe i should mention that my car never tells me if the bonnet is left open even if it clearly is open? And when the alarm goes off say if the ultrasonic sensors pick up something in the car the hazards will flash a little quicker than normal but literally no sound at all... and thats with ear pressed against the boot? Tried presisng the switching and locking the car to see if that would work but it didn't.. guess it's not the sensors which are the issue at the moment... but looks like it could be all three of the other things you've mentioned :\...

If you do decide to try this don't switch your heated rear screen switch to the on posistion as you will melt the wire and create a fire risk - also you used to be able to buy a repair paint that would repair the elements on heated rear screens - not sure if still available but worth a search
