    Default Driveshafts = Confused

So looking at Driveshafts for my Vec as I have a clunk one side and a click click click from the passenger side when I turn hard right.

    So - Looking at ECP:
    Front Left:
    http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Va...a39336e&000113

    Front Right:
    http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Va...4f48231&000113

Why is the left a fair amount more than the right? Isnt the right a longer shaft?

Why not just replace the cv joint rather than the whole drive shaft

No it's not, the o/s shaft is nearly the same length as there is an intermediate shaft.

Only the petrols have a full length shaft

    AHHH!! I see... Thanks mate

Question: Does the intermediate shaft have anyform of bearings / joints etc that can be noisey? Or is it mainly just the shafts themselves.?

    Cheers

Yeah there is a support bearing right next to where the inner cv goes but it would normally be a whining noise as opposed to a clunk

thats good then . that wont be my problem them - I have a definate clunk when drive kicks in.

I also have a fast click click click / tap tap tap from the near side too when I turn right (i.e. weight transfers to the nearside etc) - guess thats a CV the otherside too!! Thought it was the engine tapping at first - but that wouldnt make sense if only when turning right would it.....
