Default 19" alloys and 245 tyres

Just needed two new tyres on the back of the car so thought I'd go for 245/35/19 instead of 235 to see if it would protect the rim a bit, result....

    235

    245

Yes it does by about 3-4mm which might just be enough.

Thought I'd share as it might benefit other 19" owners.

What make of tyres are you on just now rich? I'm on continental on the front and toyos on the back and they both have a good lip for protection btw they are 235/35/19

I did have conti's but at £250 each last time I asked, I've gone for cheaper Nexens now. The conti's didn't give much protection from memory either.

Are they XL's as these come with rim protectors built in?

Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
