Default Discounts on a new Insignia

A wee bit turned off with my Vectra at the moment and I note the fantastic discounts around on new Insignias.

My local dealer has a pre-registered (02 reg) automatic on offer at £20,495 (list price £30,490).

I have no idea what sort of margin a dealer has on this kind of thing so what further discount (if any) could I aim for if I did not put my Vectra in as a part exchange?

    Thanks,
    Dave

02 guess you mean't 12 reg. When do the new reg's come out?
I dunno about a further discount, maybe you would get the £495 off if you went on the day and said yes to finance?
It's questions more than answers but if i was looking for one i would go to ask and tell them i have 20k tops, you never know i guess. It's a whole lot of car for that money. Is the facelift coming out soon?

New regs come out on 1st March & 1st Sept so that 12 plate will be at most 4 weeks old

    Thank you gentlemen.
Aye it is a 12 regie and a lovely car.
Salesmen wouldn't move on price at all. Mind you we were both very guarded. The usual thing, he asked what I'd be willing to pay and I asked for his best price.
I'll wait and see if he phones.

    Eek

Be careful on that one, no one should pay list price. Price up a brand new machine. Ask about the partners discount which will give you around 5% discount for starters. Then you could get another 3% dealers discretion. GM made a deposit contribution of £750, plus another £1000 for taking out 0% interest finance. If youre going to finance the deal with a loan, factor in the saving 0% interest could give you. Also a new car will give you the unlimited warranty which could be worth a few quid in repairs. I paid £24K for the 1.4 turbo Elite Nav, 6K up front and 18K over 5 years at 0% which is £300 per month. List on that one is pushing £30K so there are deals to be had. I had all the toys loaded as well so give it a try.

See what other dealerships have, to same specification
I haggled hard with my local dealership after I pointed out I could have an identical one transported to Scotland and save £1000
They came back after 30 minutes waiting, "Yes we will match that"
Saved me the round trip to view the car!

As a pre-registered car, you will be the second keeper, hence the cheaper price
This often puts some people off, as they don't realise they are listed as the next keeper

Thanks Nigel. The fact that GM made contributions of £750 + £1000 + 0% finance on a heavily discounted price I find absolutely remarkable.
I hadn't thought for a moment that these offers were available on the discounted price. Why on earth did my dealer not mention it. Nor is it quoted anywhere on web sites offering discounted Insignias. Can you give me some sort of reference material I can quote to my dealer?

Dave, go the the Vauxhall website and look at flexible finance. I bought mine from Twells of Billinghay a GM dealer in Lincolnshire who have won customer care awards consistently for a number of years. I'm sure if you gave them a ring they could fill in the gaps for you and explain about the deposit contributions and partners scheme. If the car you're buying is preregistered I'm not sure if it will qualify for the unlimited warranty. Regards Nige Spencer. Ask for Mark if you phone, :mention my name you might get extra discount.....or he'll put the phone down lol.

Just for reference, any secondhand car bought through vauxhall network q less than a year old and with less than 30k qualifies for the 100k lifetime warranty too..
