Default another spring question, but a bit different

recently my front springs snapped and have never been happy with how the car has sat since,
according to vaux my vec sri 1.9 cdti has the lowered sports chassis, and they qouted part number 93190523

after visiting PLASMA a few weeks ago, FLOB measured and the car is sitting 30mm too high at the front and the rear sits a little low and i believe the rear has soft springs as it had new shocks last year

    now the question
if i get lowering springs for a normal spec vec c will it then make mine sit where it would if the suspension was correct?, ie springs for a normal vec that lowers it 30 mm would it make mine sit correct

I think the SRi dictates the lowered sports chassis, which is 15mm lower then standard.

I dont think yours would be lowere as standard then a standard SRi.

Your springs will need to settle and the rear ones could be knackered, how old is the car? What is its history?

So I'm led to believe by vauxhall there is the standard Sri springs (sports chassis ) and the lowered sports chassis springs so there must be a difference surely ?
I have done 1000 miles since fitting the new springs and should of settled by now and even so they won't settle by 30mm , the car started out as a reps car for carlsberg and as such has probably had quite a few cases of lager in it over the years hence the soft rear springs ,

As far as I am aware there are only two versions of each spring :
    standard
    lowered (often called sports)

The only other engine that has a further version, from OE parts, is the 3.2 as the VXR has a further version available

If the dealership has searched by registration and/or chassis number they may have supplied the wrong part numbers
I often have this with my vehicle, as it comes up as a 3.0 V6 CDTI Elite, but some parts also come up as a 1.9 CDTI (such as the brakes)

when the dealership searched by reg and chassis number nothing came up for suspension so they had to look through pages and pages before they could find correct part number

If the dealership searches on EPC with your reg and they look on the VIN decode section, that is where it will tell them if the car has the sports lowered chassis, which as i understand it all SRI's have as standard. I will have a look at the part number you quoted on EPC at work tomorrow and see what they are listed for.

Had look at EPC today and discovered the following. It would appear that Vauxhall list three suspension setups for Vectra and Signum.

Standard chassis, standard ride height with standard shock absorbers, 6 different part numbers for front springs depending on year and transmission fitted.

Sports chassis, standard ride height with uprated springs and shock absorbers, front spring part number 93190526, production option code XJ1. I believe this might be used with IDS.

Lowered sports chassis, lowered ride height with uprated springs and shock absorbers, front spring part number 93190523, production option code of XJ2.

Sadly it doesn't mention what the ride height measurements are, but entering your reg number in EPC, it will tell you what option code your car left the factory with.

Hi Dean i have ordered new springs all round now, i have gone for a 30mm drop so should be about 15 mm lower than it would of been originally. at least it wont look like it is trying to pull a wheelie anymore!
You still ok for tech 2 on the 19th? i have the auto light switch fitted already and just need to run the wires through to the REC for the light/rain sensor and should be away
