    Default Water in driver footwell

I've just found a sizeable puddle in my driver's side footwell. I don't recall driving in particularly wet weather recently so I'm guessing rain is getting in somehow.

It may be coincidence but the car was serviced last week. Is there anything that could have been mis-fitted or left off that might explain the leak (pollen filter perhaps?)

I've done a search and one other user reported a similar problem but there was no resolution. There's also a TSB for water leaking in to the passenger footwell but I don't think it's that.

    Any ideas?

    Maybe...but it doesn't smell of anti-freeze.

The annoying thing is that it's going to have to sit there soaking until the dealer opens on Monday now. I reckon the whole carpet will need to come out which probably means removing most of the interior as well.

they won't remove the carpet, they'll just 'aqua-vac' the water up and dry it out..

it would be worth checking the drains in the scuttle for blockages and the seating of the pollen filter.. it's a bit of a coincidence, and the water may be coming in via the fan motor housing..

It turned out that a drainage channel below the scuttle panel had become blocked with various bits of tree detritus.

I (or at least the dealer on my behalf) tried to argue that this was a design fault and should be covered under warranty but Vx weren't having any of it.

What!!..How the heck did that get down there.. it's screened off to fairly small holes, so anything big shouldn't get down there.....

So did you have to pay??.. I'd have thought the dealer would have done that for free.. do you know what the fix is??...it's just sqeezing the big drain tubes to get the gunge to come out...no stripping really involved..

The scuttle panel, wiper linkage and motor had to be removed. I was charged an hours labour which included wet-vaccing the interior. Around here that's £70.

    Ermmmm......

OOOKKAAYYY... well they've thrown the kitchen sink at the job..even if they did take the scuttle off, removing the wiper linkage is total overkill...just my opinion..I'd certainly never even contemplate doing that..it's just making work..

guess you'll keep the screens cleaner now eh??
