Default Hows my wiring diagram for fron & rear PDC?

Just had front & rear parking sensors fitted to the Insignia as it didn't come with any. I supplied a timed relay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINI-SMD-T...item4161af0c83) but the garage seem to have connected to front sensors to the ignition supply, which means they are active while driving.

Can you guys just check that my diagram is correct before taking the car back. I have to use the ignition supply to power the parking sensors to prevent a bulb warning on CANBUS, but have advised the rear lamp supply to be used as the supply for relays for the parking sensors. Does it look ok?

Are the reversing lights connected to the Red (+12V) on the timer relay?
And the perminant +12V to one side of the relay contacts??

As I read the ebay instructions, the timer relay output is on when +12V is first applied and then the relay output goes off when the set time has elasped or when the power is removed if sooner.

Is the idea to keep the front PDC on when selecting 1st gear after using reverse??

Yes. The idea of that is so the reverse light switches the relays on so the PDC then gets power from the ignition instead of draining power from the reverse light and causing a bulb failure warning.

Yes. The timer relay is set to stay on for around 20 seconds, so each time I come out of reverse the timer stays on for around 20 seconds for the front parking sensors.

Unfortunately, I think you have used the wrong timer relay.
When the reversing lights go off, the power to the timer part of the relay PCB also goes off.
Can I suggest this relay, as I think it might be more suitable??

Damn, I've got the car booked back in for Friday.

Are you sure the relay I have won't work as I thought it worked on the principle that the contact stay closed for the timed period once the coils supply had been removed?

    Sorry I've not replied earlier.
I have checked again and I do think you need the relay I suggested.

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for the help BTW.
There was both good and bad. I gave my diagram to the garage on Friday and it now works fine, but they used a dual pole relay to switch the reverse lamp feed between the rear parking sensor kit and the front. This now works fine.

I ordered the same kit for the front of my other car with a view to fitting it myself. I fitted the front parking sensor kit over the weekend and connected it up as per my diagram, but the relay on the timer PCB kept flickering when the engine was running. Today I traced their wiring in the Insignia to see if I can copy it to the other car by simply adding a dual pole relay. I'll add the updated diagram in the next post.

This is how I beleive the garage wired the front & rear PDC to the Insignia. In this case they have taken relay pin 87 to feed the rear sensor kit, but where I went wrong is that I need to feed a permanet 12v supply to the timer relay through the normally closed dual pole relay, this way it regains a supply to start the timer when I exit reverse.

    Hope this makes sense.

Looks good, a good way to do it, plus it should keep the bulb failure sensing circuits happy.
