just would like to say a big thank you to the user as for the past 8 months i have been trying to sort my EML out ,
from this being the original post
Signum air flow meter fault 2.0t
to then intervening on this thread
z20net boost control valve sensor
to doing what nige said
What happens if you unplug your MAF? Do you still get a fault if you take away your aibox/filter when you run the engine.. Have you removed the trumpet section from the top of the airbox? Are all the jubilees in the induction system tight?
lead to this PM i sent him
Ok bud if like to make yourself a cuppa & read , thanks
hi , just thought let you no where im at with the car , so 1st thing this morning, disconnect afm, start car idiles fine drive to my friends round the corner @ 1 mile, seems ok bit flat as though no turbo,
so stop at friends fit his number plates & wipers,go back to car & start , all ok but eml is on( brake test ) shows either
P0103 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit High Input
P0104 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Intermittent
so clear fault with bsr box, then go for drive to scrap yard car drives ok like a 2 litre, managed to steadily rev to 5000 & no light still with eml not appearing,
so arrive at scrap yard ( 10 mile trip) & go looking for new trumpet cause yes i had cut mine out from top off the box, ps how long is your trumpet inside the box & what sort of diameter is it at the end.
ok final bit start car again & up pops eml with either 0103/0104
so clear code reconnect afm then remove top of air box & then go for a drive home , car make some wonderful noises may think of getting induction kit now but yep car runs lovely nice pick up & seems to be behaving , so ive done @ 20 miles from scrap yard & no lights at the mo
does that help in the diagnostics, appreciated your help thanks andy, hope the cuppa not cold,
& nige reply
The odd thing about that trumpet section in the top of the airbox is that it directs airflow over the MAF in a way it likes.. Thats why the suggestion to run without an airbox for a while to see if it made a difference.. If you can find a new trumpet section it may make a difference, I would start with that before spending money on other components. It does seem that we have narrowed it down to the airflow through the MAF though which is a very good start. Its the process of elimination, stick with it I don't think your far off sorting it.
& so asked a friend for his argos induction filter he had in his shed & for the last 125 miles no problems at all ( touching tree wood)
so big thank you to you nige & all others that have aim to provide with there input
