I would use normal degreaser, its designed to digest oil etc.
May be worth paying for a professional steam clean.
I used degreaser and then hot soapy water in a parrafin gun attached to my compressor.
No oil just all over every pipe like a browny dry colour rub finger on like thick dust all round the front and rear
Can give it a go. but becareful how much water you throw around under the bonnet.
Another thing you can use to rinse off with is a garden pump sprayer.
Having said that I have used power washers before on my cars to no ill effect, BUT its not recommended.
That's what my worry is getting water in electrics but if I cover them up should be alright
I usually just give it some elbow but state this engine bay will take weeks
U would think the pipes were made from metal lol
Guess it depends where he works, this used to be a mining area, evcerything was covered in black dust, and the birds could only cough.
Things cleaned up a lot now! lol
Pop some plastic bags over the electrics and give it a go.
Not sure where he worked but yer like a dust rusty colour sure all get it sorted cheers mate will give it ago tomorrow
Let us know how you get on.
Will do pics will be up
Mark done lots off engine bays , only thing i may do is put a plastic bag over the alternator, i find that the cheap 1 pound cans off engine degreaser are good enough. few brushes to give it a scrub and rinse off ,
