Default misbehaving fuel cap locking mechanism aarrgghh

well my cars been in dealers getting some warranty work done, which tbh has been done with exception of some sort of alarm module which is on order, headed out in the car yesterday but had to stop for petrol(pretty commom occurance on v6 turbo auto lol) anyhow stopped at garage and ****** petrol cap wouldnt open so back home to get the twintop, ive stripped parts out today as i managed too prise the securing pin back into housing to get the cap open,it transpires that the pin locks as normal but doesnt retract when i unlock car so ive disconnected the multiplug from the motor so i can get cap open no probs, this is annoying as ive never had this prob with the car,its only just happened since dealer has had the car im assuming the wee motor is goosed and needs replaced, has anyone else had this problem and if so am i right that the motor needs replaced

I take it the dealer hasn't changed the locking system from one press to unlock all the doors, boot and fuel cap, to two presses of the remote?
