    Default Hello :)

Hi everyone, just bought a 2005 Vectra CDTI 150 SRI, so thought id join up as im sure ill need some help and info along the way and i see theres plenty of it here

Few small issues, the stat needs changing as its running cool all the time, ive got a new stat just waiting for a dry day to put it in!

Ive changed rear droplinks, front anti-roll bar bushes, and fixed a creaky door strap so far, thanks to the very handy tip for turning it around in the how2 section

One thing i notice is that if i go to accelerate and drop the boot, just as i feel the turbo cutting in the car gives a slight hesitation for a split second and then pulls again but doesnt seem to pull near as strong as it does before the hesitation, as if something is holding it back, it still revs up through the rev range but just not very strong. Sometimes i find if i put down the pedal slowly instead of just planting it it doesnt give the hesitation and pulls stronger.
Ive checked the connecting rod on the inlet manifold and it is off all 4 flaps, would this be the cause? Theres no engine check light on either, and on a long run the car still returns up to 52mpg

Ive not got much cash to spare at the moment to buy a new manifold and ive seen in a few posts that some people have stuck the flaps in the open position and its all fine, i was thinking of trying this but does anyone have a pic of what position the flaps should be stuck?

    Hi

I put a new thermostat in my cdti 150 yesterday, i was bored and there were no dry days imminent according to the met office so did it in the rain !, its straightforward, a little bit cramped but not a difficult job, it took my about 50 minutes to do in total and i didnt need to remove the battery or battery box as there is enough space with it all in situ

make sure your egr is clean getting rid of the soot

also change your thermostat as soon as poss this will increase your mpg
