Default Blue smoke from cold start

    Hi all.

I have a Vectra 1.9CDTI SRI. 08 plate 51000 miles . Just of late she blows a puff of what looks more like Blue smoke when started from cold or over night. Not clouds of smoke i must say. Literally soon after all is fine, no smoke, and she runs absolutely fine with no smoke for the rest of the day. I'm pretty sure the glow plugs have never been changed and she starts pretty much as she did when i bought her 5 months ago.

And ideas guys as this is beginning to worry me. Oh the smoke has a strange smell to it .....not really a burning smell...but not a un-burnt smell of fuel either. She is still under a 12 month warranty with Bristol Street Motors too.

Thanks for reading and any info would be great.

I have this also on the same car/engine but only at 45000ish miles.

I thought it was normal just to get a quick puff of smoke.

First diesel i've owned, so now you got me worried. Lol.

    Hi Mikey.

Ive had diesels in the past...although i had a similar problem with a car and my work van. I cured the problem by changing the glow plugs !!!!

Its the blue smoke that concerns me....Valve guide seals or rings....i ****** hope not.

    Regards

    Dave.

    Have a check oil level.

Blue smoke on start up can be worn valve stem oil seals.
