    Default ECU is knackered

Just had a mechanic out to diagnose a fault on my vectra 2.0dti 2004. Originally the glow plug relay was removed and replaced and since that I have been unable to start the car. There is power to dash by turning the key does not start vehicle. The tech was unable to connect to ecu to retrieve fault codes.

My question is where can I find the ECU and how much would it cost roughly to replace?

just because he cant connect doesnt necessarily mean is knackered.. Did he check supply to the ECU, did he check the canbus lines to it to make sure they are ok? All checks like this need to be done first.. probably the answer is no as the plugs on the ECU are a pig to get to.

btw, the ECU is part of the diesel pump, quite a bit of stripping down to get to the ECU/Pump... FLOB is doing the same thing at the moment.

IF the ECU can be removed from the pump then its about £200 for a repair, if it has to be removed as one unit then your looking at strip down labour to remove the timing chain to remove it.

Its located front left of the engine, just follow the metal diesel pipe lines to it.

Strange and simple question, is it the right ECU he has put on? Can't you put you old one back on to check that you can connect to it over the can-bus system?

Needs to see a tech 2 / 3 ... Needs a module ecu presence check what ever ecu / module is missing that ecu needs its feeds and earths checking and then possibly that ecu is faulty / has wireing problems .... Don't just jump in the deep end and think its a big fault think simple

Is there any one with tech 2/3 in the Leicester area willing to help me out? If there other diagnostic kits won't talk to ECU, won't it be the same with tech 2/3?
