Thumbs up Todays job - Clutch kit and DMF..

Phoned around yesterday and today made a decision to book in...

The place I chose said - when do you want it done, I replied ASAP and they said bring it down today and we can have it done today for you!!!

We 'discussed' the price and the job and 45 mins later I was there....

Where: Mr Clutch in Slough... and yet again, I have to say I have nothing but excellent things to say about them... All stock items as Daniel said (mgr there) that they do at least one of the 'CDTI 150's' a week in some form VX / Saab etc...

After discussing the job, talking to there workshop forman and the VX tech, we test ran the car to confirm my diagnosis on a noisey DMF etc and I left them the key. Was told I could come back anytime in the day and see the progress etc..

Went back at 16:30 - all done no issues.. They noted that there is a 'knock' coming from what they think is the CV joint as its when the clutch bites or drive at the wheels is backed on / off with the accerlator pedal - but they really didnt look into it more as I told them I know of that and that I would be fixing myself.

Result.. AMAZING.. You dont realise how bad it may be until you have new fitted. The gear change is SO slick, no clunk when you change anymore, VERY tight and a much lighter pedal...
Just need to fix the passengar side knock, but at least the DMF knock has completely gone.

    2 year / 20k warrenty.

Daniel wanted me to see and inspect the old parts as we had agreed and I kept them too (minus the CSC)...

Interestingly the clutch plate itself has some meat still on it, but changed the complete clutch kit as the DMF needed doing anyway..

Here are some pics of the old parts:

I still cant get over the difference in gear change - lol

Always nice to see a recommendation - what did that set you back?

I wasnt that fussed about getting mine changed as it 'wasnt that much of an issue.

But like you when it was changed it was like a new car and wished I had done it sooner.

    Thanks mate ...

Was amazed when I called Mr C this morning and he said bring it in today!!.. And they wernt quiet either... MOT's / services / clutch changes - it was all happening...

I dont know what others in the SL area think of Mr C - but, well, I am impressed... to the point I would recommend them.

Just seemed honest - no problem with me seeing the car whilst its being done at any stage or looking at parts etc...

    Am happy!

Prob wasnt the cheapest, but I would have had to travel for an hr to get to Universal clutch in Luton who were £750 ish, but they were unsure on the price and would have to confirm parts etc.
Mr C was £850 all in and done the same day...

im sure he may have been cheaper , ( but i know that as he works at vx in the day time , ) then the car would have had to stay over night at his , so would have meant you would have to leave it and get a lift home . mr c always seem busy anytime ive gone past ( i live just a few mins away . ) khalid
