    Default Locking wheel nuts...help

    Bought a signum a week ago and today thought id go and put 4 new tyres on. Only thing is the locking wheel nut is shagged and there is no code for a new one.

    on the top of the key nut is a letter, thats all the dealers will need - or just take it along to them and they be able to match it.

    that what i did last week when mine split

    taking to my neighbour who works in the parts department at my local dealers says theres 28 different variations of the locking wheel nut.

    Went to vauxhall today and they said i would need the code otherwise they cant do it. I even asked if they could try and match they key and they said no. They then said i would have to book it in and they will try and remove them but it may be difficullt and will cost me. Think ill phone another dealer on Monday

    that sounds rubbish matey - how is it then that I can give my knackered key my neighbour and got one for me?

    Retail on the replacement nut is around £24

    Sounds like the dealers are trying to get more dosh from you fella

    If you can be bothered with the drive there's a place in castleford who make the AA removal tool, they took mine off for a tenner.

    I'll try find site again...

    I rang them and they said pop over, lad came out, hit it with a hammer and did it by hand!!

    I'd tried everything and even welding a nut on, doing this first would have saved me the damage

    1x lump hammer
    1 slighty too small good quality socket

    Whack it on really tight, it'll remove the nut (crack bar is handy). takes less than a minute.
    Brother used to do this all the time in the scrappy he worked at.
