Default Egr cleaned at 28k miles

Well thought I'd have a look at my egr this morning as I was keen to see how bad it would be at low mileage. The answer , bad. I was very surprised to see the amount of carbon in it. Anyways gave it a clean popped it back on with two new gaskets and jobs a good one. Sorry I forgot to take pics if valve once cleaned. The only prob I had was after I'd put it all back together and was sat in the kitchen having a celebratory brew, I had a strange feeling I'd put one of the gaskets on the wrong way up ( exhaust side) as there's a lip on one side, I ran my hand round whilst engine was running and all seemed fine, may double check this later. Car feels better now so alls good.

That is dirty, don't think mine was that bad. Now you've done it, just give a clean every 6 months and it should be fine. Will be giving mine a good clean next week on my day off.

Yeah I was surprised too. Was wondering if someone could confirm the correct way up for the gasket in the exhaust side of the egr. The oval shape gasket has a slight lip on the inner part of the gasket . As I removed the old one I just lost hold of it, I caught it before it fell under the car but pulsing see which way it came off.

I would say the lip goes inside to stop the gasket from moving around when you go to put the EGR back on, but TBH i don't think it really matters what way it is. I know it didn't pay much attention

I tried to do that but didn't have the correct tools for the throttle housing. Screws are very tight
