    Default Tuning (superchips) and Insurance

    OK,

Following one cranial busting session and a bottle of Russias finest aperitif , I have booked Signum into superchips next Monday.

I have also done the honourable thing and informed my insurance company. The result was surprising -

    £8 additional per month
    Listed on insurance cert
Becomes part of car value (keep receipts) should car get pinched or written off. ie - just like any other factory fitted item above basic model spec

Hope this is of interest to some thinking of remapping

Er.... to be fair paying £500 quid for a remap at Superchips I would MYSELF go to the VXRPC. Software is backed up by EDS in Germany.

I had a Superchip remap on my BMW330d and it caused a few problems. But that might just of been me

Or if the Superchips offer a moneyback guarantee if needed that would be good

Blimey you are in Daventry, 30 minutes if that from the official Vauxhall Performance Centre!

Forget Superchips and go with them!

PM on here Matt and/or Spoons on here for a first hand review if you want. I have had both of mine done there and can't fault it.

If you arn't happy with them you can get a full refund and then goto Superchips if you prefer.

Thanks for the info, need more advice I think. Not wanting full on power, my car is an auto, really looking for more responsivness and mid range torque.

Chosen Superchips because of the warrenty issue, they say "Any fault due to modification is covered by them.... can be extended to three years cover"

    Any advice? Thx

My advice would be to go to the Vauxhall Performance centre. Superchips are a bit of a "Jack of all trades and master of none". EDS are one of the premier tuners in the world and thats what you'll be getting from the Vauxhall Performance centre.

    As Ross says.

The VXPC map will impress you I guarantee it. Very smooth driveable power focusing more on torque than BHP. Auto isn't a problem. And approved Vauxhall tuning centre

Guessing you have 1.9 CDTi 150bhp? I had one of these in my Vec and the VXPC was far superior to any tuning box etc.

I called my insurers today (privilege) and asked about the difference in cost to have my 150 cdti remapped to 185ish bhp, they added appx £100, I thought this was okay..

Might just get saving for a remap now,
