Default The 2.0 DTI Engine advice please.....

    Hello,

Looking at an Astra SRi 2.0 DTi ...

Any advice what to look for? I went and viewed it the other day and when i rev it at about 2800rpm the engine pitch changes and theres a bit of a knock, sounds like a big end baring knock, but isnt a big end knock lol..

I'm not that concerned as i've heard other DTi's with this same sound

Anyhow, i know next to nothing about this enigne so any advice you can offer?

Also tuning boxes? I have driven this engine in the vectra and the proformance was far from excellent... ?

Very poor performance with this engine. Good between 70 - 90 on the Motorway, but hopeless for overtaking on A and B roads.
    Dangerous in my opinion.
And they shouldn't knock. Mine never did.
    I wouldn't have another DTi.
Take the advice and walk away !

the dti is a great we engine with very little problems other than the egr valve needing a clean , i have had about 6 dti,s the 1 i have now is a bit rattely but its been like that for the last 35,000 mile so i wouldnt panic to much
they are chain driven and the 2.0 in a astra is lively enough better than the 1.7dti

The fuel pump springs to mind when we discuss problems.
