Default Door lock 5 pin vs 7 pin connector

    Hi,

Recently my 2003 vectra started to show the door lock problem where the car thinks the door is still open when it is actually closed. Ordered a new driver side door lock but on installation found out it had a different type number. The only difference I could see was that the new door lock has a connector with only 5 pins while the old has 7. Because I needed the car went ahead and installed the door lock mechanism and everything seems to work. Now I just wonder what the additional two pin in the old lock were for?

probably electrical lock sensor, when you push the button down it locks all the doors, was a feature on the very early models but was deleted to my knowledge
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

    Thanks, you were both right.

Just tried it and indeed when using the key or the mechanical door lock button it now only locks the drivers door. I am not sure if you can still get the locks with this feature but I don't think I will take it all apart again. When you mentioned it I remembered it worked like that but actaully never seem to have used it in normal day to day use. However will let the dealer know they provided me with a wrong part.

Sound like my problem, when the door is closed, it thinks it open so when I go to LOCK the doors they flick open again.

How hard was this door lock to fit?

    Bye bye Vec B
