Default Time to allow for car sale?

What do people think is a reasonable amount of time for advertising a car for sale before its ready to go?

I get my company car in 4 weeks time and want to have the vectra gone ASAP after I collect the new car - My insurance runs out 3 days after the due date!

So I was thinking about adverstising now, with a note to say viewing now, for collection in 4 weeks, but then I think if that was me buying I might not want to wait.

    Is 4 weeks too long?

i think it all depends on the amount of money you are selling it for if you want top money then be prepared to wait it might take long to sell
but if i seen a car advertised saying you carnt pick it up for 4 week then i would go and buy another one if i bought one wouldnt mind waiting a few days but not weeks but i dont like waiting for anything as soon as i buy something i want to go and get it stright away

Yeah its getting the balance right.

I want a good price of course, but given that I don't need the money to finance a new purchase I will be flexible, but then don't want the car sitting about unisured and therefore undrivable once the company car comes. 3 day window of opportunity is not good!

When I sell cars I always aim to have it gone within a week. Price it realistically and it will sell

I'd say a couple of weeks and do without a car if need be until your new one arrives.

4 weeks is unrealistic , strike while the irons hot , if they view the car let them pay and take the car away , there a re soooo many similar cars otuhere forsale you cant afford to be stuck with it and you will kick yourself if you start dictating terms to a buyer and they change their mind

It can take longer than you think to. It took me nearly two months to shift a very nice low mileage beemer, that was over a grand under book...

You can always rent a run around for a week...

pricing of cars like that is critical , you'd think cheap is better but many car buyers dont see it like that ! wierd
