Default 1.9 CDTI (150) intermittant start

wondering if any electrical guys can shed some light for me.

    Vectra 55 plate 1.9 (150).

my main problem is that twice now it has failed to start (wont even crank over) after stopping, battery seems healthy more than healthy enough.

No fault codes, no fault lights.

    all other electricals work fine.

turned key on and off a fair few times and it appears to work.

basically its like a wire has come off the stater motor, havent had a chance to look yet as its raining (again).

is there common problems with the CIM module that would cause these symtoms?

    cheers guys

    Could be a faulty ECU.

Do all the dash lights come on as they should ie: engine management light, does this come on as it should ?

The reason I ask is if it don't come on its a communication fault to the ECU and the car wont start.

May be a broken wiring harness, the CDTI's do suffer them - not one of the common faults but there have been a few suffered this. I would have the electrics checked before parting with £800+ for a new ECU.

Check down the back of the engine near the steering pump area. Check the connections to the steering pump (I believe this is main connection between ECU and the rest of the car). Check near the front drivers wheel arch too. The ECU sits in a cradle infront of the drivers wheel arch. Check connections to this are firm.

Mine did the same and it was the stater motor that went....

Try getting a garage to have a look, should cost no more than £120.

Or don't be frightened by someone telling you the ECU is goosed in the first place.
