    Default 1.9 150BHP with a kangaroo/jumping prob

    Hi guys

I have a 2004 Z19DTH in my Saab and have been experiencing a kangarooing when under light throttle between 2-3k revs

it only does it about once every 100 miles but im planning to sell it and dont like to pass problems onto other people

its had a new EGR a year ago and drives perfect on full throttle and for 99% of the time, its just this missfire/kangaroo at part throttle and low revs. it does it hot or cold it seems too.

i have taken the 3rd injector connector off and cleaned it with contact cleaner to no avail.

there is no smoke and its getting good MPG

    Many thanks

    Jim

You need to get someone to rev the motor while you watch the bar move from left to right as the engine revs increase... if the bar is in place & the area isn't full of gunk then chances are yours is working fine...

If the bar is in place you wont be able to move them as the third swirl is connected to a motor. So will only move when the motor is activated.

AS above - start the car and rev - you should see the swirls move.

INjectors!... Check ALL the injector connections with the electrical plug. Remove the plug - spray with contact cleaner (NOT WD40) and re-fit the plug... Make sure they are on the injector tight, a cable tie holding them tight to the injector often helps.

In Vauxhall guise the injector plugs had a revision to rectify the above where there was a breakdown in the plug cabling.. Not sure on the Saab issue but I think its the same.

Other things I would look at is the last time the fuel filter was changed. Can cause a lot of issues if thats knackered... I would change that as a matter of course too...

DONT remove the bar is its attached...

You will not be able to move the swirl bar from the engine bay if all attached.

IF they are all gummed up and seized you will get a error light on the dash as the motor wont operate.. The motor that controls the swirls is only connected to the 3rd swirl, the bar then connects swirls 1, 2, and 4 to that so they all move in unison.

Check its operation when being reved before you worry about the inlet. If its the inlet at fault you will likely see oily soot deposits ontop of the swirls where the bearings have failed causing up and down movement on the swirls letting the residue escape.

3rd Injector kit is a VX only part (and prob Saab) - will get you the VX number, they are about 12 quid I think..
