Base coats?

Anyone have a list of the base or primer colours used for the different colours?

I used grey as usual on my silver lightening but it's come out a lot lighter, it's paint I had from last year so may have settled too much in the tin?

If its right I'll get next lot mixed elsewhere...

As far as I know its all white water base on all mate. Are you spraying the item at the same angle as it sits on the car, for instance if it was a wing you would have to hang it how it sits on the car Vertically, but for a bonnet it lays horizontal. If you spray it at the wrong angle the flake lays different so reflects the light in a different way which shows up as a lighter or darker shade.

This isnt a problem with solid colours but anything with a flake......

Yeah it's the splitter so it was hung like it would be on car, realistically it should be darker then...

It needs re doing anyway as the lacquer has milk spots in, just glad I didn't do the rear chrome as it would look daft...

Milk spots? As in the base coat popping through or blooming?

Cool - so you will need a plastic primer - and I think the one I had when I did the eye brows on ours was darker grey.
