    Default retro fitting power tailgate.

After seeing Ian Highlanders stunning vec estate with a power tailgate, I've been thinking that if all the parts were available then surly it can be retro fitted.

So if to can be retro fitted to a Vec estate then surely it can be retro fitted to a Signum. Why not?

    Anybody know otherwise??

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

because the signum has never had a power tailgate but the vectra estate
has had it factory fitted so thats why it can be retro fitted to the estate

i cant see why the parts cud be retro fitted on a signum but fitting the
parts in relevant locations on the signum wud probably be an issue but
it`ll be very interesting to see sum1 try it.

Anybody else know if it would be possible. I can get all the bits, but don't want to waste the money if it can't be done.

Only one way to find out! Could be a first on here I suppose at the end of the day its just a powered strut with a motor and switch and stuff so if you can package it all neatly in your own tailgate i cant see why it wouldnt work, may take a little bit of fettling tho

Have a read of Kens how 2. The tricky bit will be that even the vec tailgate needs modifying as the power one is different

I guess the first thing to check is the relative lengths of the boot lid struts extended and closed as they are in integral part of the system so if the estate ones are too long or too short then it's a no almost straight away. After that it's a question of looking at what wiring, modules etc are needed and where to mount the motor as well as the lock mechanism.

When you pop back down to my place Kev we'll do some measuring up and can pull mine to bits a bit so you can have a better look if you like.
