    Default Vectra C Advice

    Hi All
I am looking to sell my Astra and get a Vectra and would like some advice.

I am looking for a Diesel Estate, but I am not sure which is best, 1.9 CDTi or 2.0 DTi. My experince of the DTi engine in my Astra, was they are less technical, so when I had EGR problems, I could easily block off my EGR (although it did turn out to be a bit of a long lasting problem, that took ages to sort), whereas I believe the CDTi engines have a sensor and therefore harder to block off.

Any advice to for what to look out for and your opinions are appreciated.

they've all got there plus and minus points and a search through the forums will not lead you wrong.
my choice would be based on what you have to spend- if it's 2.5k or less then go dti if its more then you should be able to pick up a newer (cdti) engined car.

search and read is the best bet :-)

But I would prefer a newer cdti one to an older dti

When i bought my first vec i wanted a CDTI but having been on here for ages now, the lack of 'what's the problem with my DTI?' threads, i'd defo consider a DTI. My advice would be go 3.0

    Hi All

Thanks for the replies, I've got a budget of £4000 and I would like to get as new as possible, without having loads of miles on, but I think 3.0 will sting me on insurance.

I've had 2 vectra 1.9cdti s, first one I had from new untill 120k, never had egr, manifold or DMf problems, second one I've had for 25k so far and no egr problems. I do a lot of longer drives this could be why maybe, I don't know?
If buying a ford remember they suffer injector seal problems on tdci engines

Might help to ask elsewhere in the forum that has more visiting traffic, as this part of the forum is as per the title - Introduce yourself.

The 2.0DTi is my Zafira is fine. Granted it only puts out 100bhp and is less refined I think than a CDTI but it's quite good on fuel and does the job fine in that car. We have had no problems at all with the engine at all and we have put 30,000 miles on it in 4 years.
