    remove the turbo intake and check the shaft for play. Also remove the output from the compressor and see if it is chucking oil into the intercooler. for the exhaust side, you need to unbolt the exhaust and see if there is oil in there but might need to turn it over to get a good idea. Obviously you would need to cover things to stop them getting covered in crude if it is spitting oil.

    i did remove the pipe from the turbo and there is play in the shaft ( thats why i got in touch with turbo dynamics about a turbo )
    oil was also in the intercooler pipe .and a bad smell of oil at high boost !
    and still getting limp mode at high boost
    but we did not know in other threads if that was the crappy map

    there may well be a small amount of play and oil in there but if its excessive of both then thats a problem , its defo looking like turbo after all which is great news , right ???

    its the rattling that is another concern
    would that be the turbo ?

    oh yes ,great news if its turbo
    better than bottom end for sure

    turbo dynamics said that a misting of oil in the pipes is ok
    but i had to wipe this out with a rag

    yes checked the shaft and there is play and oil in the pipe
    have not checked the pipe to the intercooler
