Default **Urgent help required - Idle Control Valve gasket**

    Hi guy's,

Yesterday i cleaned my ICV on my 2003 GSI as per How 2. All went well until i nicked a corner off the gasket. All put back together and as i suspected the idle speed is all over the place, reving upto 2000 rpm and dipping as i slow down to almost stalling.

Simple fix i thought and phoned Vaux dealers this morning, they tell me you can't buy the gasket on it's own and comes part of a new ICV kit and wanting £700

Please tell me there is a way around this without having to pay £700? alternatively make my own gasket??

    Pic of gasket in question:

    Hey mate,

It is a paper gasket. On doing vairous seaches it looks like there isn't a gasket listed and you need to purchase the complete TB. Thanks for the offer but i'll be able to pick up some gasket paper from a local motor factors for 40p and make my own.

Lol, your not joking. I was getting a very minor occasional idle flutter so thought what the heck i'll give it a clean. In fairness it did need a clean but typically i make a job worse than before i started.

Same here , I used the high temp stuff (not that it matters) in a small tube , (about £7) worked a treat .
Just make sure to do a nice neat bead , obviously on the inside area of the screw holes , place it square on in one hit if you can , as long as it oozes along the outer edges when you tighten the screws it should work a treat.
Allow it to set before you start the engine though .

I replaced the O2 sensor yesterday as the EML came on after 2 days of clearing. Thankfully the old sensor removed easily with a spanner and the light has remained off today so fingers crossed it's done the job.

Little update, bought a sheet of gasket from local motor factors and made one up myself. All fitted and purring lovely and not a flicker above 800 rpm, rev it up and drops straight back down and settles back on 800 rpm. Thanks for all the help and guidance, im over the moon.
