Default Passenger Door Switch Refurb - Thoughts?

When I got my current Vec, I think somebody with talons had been using the passenger door window switch, and had ruined the rubber coating stuff all around the switch:

It was really annoying me, so today I set about it to see what I could do with it. Popped the whole switch and surround out, and then removed the actual switch from the surround. Initially thought I would just scrape off the remainder of the rubber stuff and leave it as the black plastic. Typically though, it didn't want to come off easily, and I ended up having to use a stanley blade to scrape it off, which inevitably caused some damage.

Sooooooooo, I then set about it with some 1500 wet and dry sandpaper to remove the scratches, then buffed it up with some G3 and some Autoglym SRP. End result as follows:

Just wondering what you think? Does this look ok, or does it look totally out of place?

    I like that alot.

My passengers switch facia is about the same as what yours was. Going to pull mine out now and sand it etc. Lets see what I can come up with.

    Cheers for the idea

Edit : I just wonder what can be done for the drivers side. Not much as I can see

It's the only switch that has the plastic surround, so no more to do. Just good old fashioned hand winders in the back, and the driver's switch takes up the whole opening without the need for a surround.

Cheers. Didn't take too long once I gave up trying to scrape off the old coating carefully and just set about it with the blade. Let's see a photo when you've done yours!

Pleased folk seem to be liking this.

Perhaps a nice easy wee mod for others to do, as I am sure most of us have some sandpaper and some polishing stuff lying about already!
