OH no not another 3.0 V6 CDTI what to look out for thread!

I'm going to look at a few this week... All manual facelift models with the newer engine, not sure which that is?

This is only the 2nd car I've every bought and to be honest I dont have a clue what to look for! LOL. I've got all the cosmetic and legal things to look for listed, but looking through some threads on here, who is better to ask than the people who drive them!?

So, a few questions and anything you can add extra would be amazing! Really dont want to buy a lemon! Does it suffer the DMF problem? SVC? what are they? Fuel pumps?

Any strange noises or rattles in particular areas I should look at?

    Thanks in advance!

Can only comment on mine. Lots of basic things missing due to vauxhall cutting costs. No rear interior light on estate. No courtesy lights in doors. No cig lighter or illuminated ashtray although power socket is fitted. No electric rear windows. Yes has DMF dual mass flywheel, expensive to replace. MPG on mine about 34, I don't hare around in it. Check alignment/camber otherwise eats through tyres, especially rears. Have done a post on large service cost, check it out.

The OP has advised he is looking at facelift newer engine, so is the Z30DT 184

Noone so far has reported any major issues with this engine
Personally, just buy a AA repair cover policy, if it does not come with a warranty
If it does come with a warranty, then make sure it covers repairs without limit of cost, and includes DMF (and clutch if replaced), fuel pump and ancilliaries, turbo, and injectors

Thanks guys, yep its the 184BHP engine. Its going to be either a Vectra estate or Signum. So anything you can throw about this 2 in particular would be great.

M8iternet, this AA cover, is it expensive?

I have had a preface manual for about a month now and I've averaged about 46 mpg so far (mostly motorway). Can't fault it really not had any issues yet touch wood! Although it does beech out a big cloud of soot when you boot it! (apparently its fairly normal)

It cost me £200 per year
Seems to have been reduced recently to £120, but does not include home or recovery
    http://www.theaa.com/breakdownrepaircover
Adding home and recovery takes it to £150

Yes, I am starting to call it BatMan mode...
Gets people off your tail quite easily

I suspect it is a sign the fuel filter is at or passed the end of its life
Mine is now due for replacement and has been like this for the last few weeks
    Will compare after the service
