I'm not sure, but I think it makes a difference whether the car is half or full canbus - which is yours?

    To answer a few questions...

The car with the CDR2005 is a half CAN vehicle.

The CDC40 in the last post is a full CAN set-up.

If you are fitting the head-unit and display from the same vehicle, then they are usually already paired.

Half-CAN radios will need the code keying in every time you cut the battery power... so this includes first installation.

Full CAN radios including the CDC40, Cd30 and CD70 are pre programmed (paired together),and do not require the code keying in if the battery power is cut.

Hmmm - it is possible to convert from half to full CAN audio set-up, however it will require some wire swapping in the display (assuming you already have the 32 pin display plug...
if not, you will first need to do the Bigmac How 2 Convert TID to GID conversion.

Then for the head-unit, you would need to fit a few converters.

Iso2car or SOT122S conversion lead for the head-unit itself - convert 36 pin ISO to 40 pin Quadlock.
Aerial converter plug to convert from ISO / Din to Fakra plug

Then transpose two CAN wires, to link between head-unit and display plug.

To be honest, if you are converting from CDR2005, I would fit an aftermarket head-unit, such as Alpine etc... better radio for similar / less money than a Vauxhall unit.

I am sure there is a How 2 for fixing the CDR2005.. depending upon what iswrong with yours.

Not necessarily, Mine is half can, and I have never had to enter the code, despite having disconnected the battery dozens of times

    Ahh - Do I assume you have a NCDC2013, NCDC 2015, NCDR 2011 ?
These are hybrid units with KWP diagnostics (Pin 12), but have mid speed CAN link between head-unit and display.

Saying that, I don't know about the half-CAN vectra C units, but I remember that it was possible to turn off the security code request function on early Vauxhall radios.

    Yup -should do.

What is wrong with your current unit?

Not sure if it was these that were prone to dodgey on/off buttons or something like that.
Bit of re-soldering the contacts and bob's your uncle, and fanny's your aunt.

If it is a dodgey CD drive, then if cleaning doesn't work, then replacement drives can be bought for them.

The upside to these CDR2005's is that there are also a few upgrade How 2's for them..
I am sure there is an LED colour change and an Aux-in How 2 for them.
