Plan to replace the pads and discs all round a vectra 1.8 exclusiv. Is this a reasonable DIY job?

Yeah, It's a very simple job (even I can do it! lol). If you have a rake through the How To section you find threads on removing discs pads etc...

The only thing you may struggle with is winding in the rear pistons as they're threaded and so require a special tool to turn them back into the caliper.

Brakes are nothing to be scared of tackling.. remove cap on brake fluid resevior to ease pushing back of pistons

Front calipers : Just take care when pushing the piston back on the caliper.. dont catch the rubber surrounding it.

Screw holding the disc to the hub : Tap the bit into the screw to ensure its seated correctly and/or a small wire brush to clean it out to ensure good bite

Rear caliper : The piston needs to be wound back in.. clockwise. Can be done with long nose pliers and a little pressure whilst doing it. Alternatively get a wind back tool.. either works fine imo

Again screw holding disc to hub as before.

Check fluid level.. top up if needed.. Replace brake fluid cap

When all back together and car on the ground.. slowly push brake pedal to the floor.. repeat til pedal stays high

You are perhaps unaware that the site includes a extremely good "how to" section. This includes sections for front & rear discs. It also includes comments from folk who followed the "how to".
