    Default Spanner Light!

    Hello Guys,

Little problem here. I bought my new car about 3 weeks ago and as soon as i got it off the forcourt it started cutting out with the spanner light on. Did my research and concluded it was the FPR, part of a silent recall that the car had never seen.

Got that all sorted about 2 weeks ago and the car has driven lovely (if not a slightly lumpy idle but nothing terrible).

Driving to work this morning, over took a couple of cars on a dual carrigeway and what pops up, the spanner light.

Took it back to the garage I got it from and they plugged it in to see the same error code as before, p1191, this got me thinking...wtf.

So people, taking into account the spanner light is still on but car is not missing a beat, limiting revs or going into limp mode, what in gods holy name is wrong with my car?!

    lol thanks

Haven't bothered looking at your profile. Guessing 2.2 direct as you mention the FPR.

It could well be the high pressure fuel pump. I had both changed on my 2.2 direct. Then a year later yet another FPR due to the previous one also being faulty.

I too had p1191 fault code. Vauxhall recommend changing both items.

    Hey man,

Yeah its the 2.2 sorry I forgot to put that down lol.

I thought it might be, only, wouldn't the performance of the car be down? Unless of course I have been driving the car while its under powerd and I haven't noticed because I went from such a slow car lol.

The thing is the car isn't in limp mode or anything. Just the light is on.

Does it go into linpmode when the car is hot ?

My car did this and after getting the FPR sorted, 10 weeks later the HPFP went, check yours just now, if its Siemens then it may be that, if its continental, could be something else

I can't say it has gone into limp mode at all, I drove it hot about 6 miles home and some of that on the national speed limit roads. Didn't miss a beat.

Where will I find the pumps location?

    Thanks
    Guys

On the end of the camshaft. Coolant expansion tank is just behind it.

Mine intermittantly kept going into limp home mode when the fuel pump and / or regulator was at fault, then was fine again for several days. Occasionally the car wouldn't even start.
