    Default roof rails

Upon locating a Siggy with roof rails in a nearby scrapyard, i decided to have them away. I got in there with the tools, removed the headlining, loosened the curtain airbag housings, undid the 8 bolts and lifted them off. Now, my question is, why will these not be 'load bearing' when they're attached to my Siggy. I've read threads on here stating that that is the case. I looked at how they fitted on the car i took them off and it appeared that they simply bolted through a 6mm hole in the trough that runs the length of the car?

there not load bearing, they can be fitted to any signum and are just as
strong as the roof bar kit that goes across the car.if you need to carry
anything on the roof then you will need the roof bar kit thats used with the
roof rails rather than the kit that attaches into the gutter brackets.

there is no difference to the roof panels apart from if has sunroof or not

this has been discussed previously on few occassions

OK, well i knew the roof bar kits were different but i was just under the impression that if the rails were retro-fitted the use of said bars was not recommended. I seem to have got that wrong though

no m8 doesnt make any difference at all but vauxhall do specify a maximum
weight on the roof anyway for dafety reasons so if you keep to that then it
    be fine.

the roof bars and roof rails do mount practically in the same areas in the
    roof gutter anyway.
