Default 2.0T misfire ...from the top

the car was bought with the engine management light on, it was code read at time of purchace and it was showing EGT sensor ( hence me not thinking to much of the issue at the time) but drove fine other than a little rough on idle.
after purchace i noticed air con on when turned it off it turned out to be really rough idle.

    parts replaced so far...
EGT sensor, coils, cts, plugs, turbo, given a service.

coils were genuine saab , cts from unipart, plugs are ngk also tried denco's.

changing all the filters again this weekend inc fuel.

after EGT replacement the eml has gone off and no codes since as its checked regular
had compression test done ... unsure on accuracy of readings
all wiring around engine been checked for breaks etc
fried the carb cleaner spray to find leaks
    all provided negative results

I've heard someone on here mention that their Z20NET was running roughly and it turned out to be a leaking flexi around the cat - might be worth taking it to an exhaust place, pretend you're interested in their services, get them to put it on a ramp, start the engine and look for any leaks along the whole exhaust starting at the manifold.

my exhaust sounds similar to the 2 boxes have given up (baffles gone ), i thought it was the sound from the misfire so if my backboxes are past it could that be an issue which may contribute

i would not think it would contribute to a rough idle situation though. Your turbo essentially provides the back pressure your engine requires...

Have you changed any of your lambdas at all? Get that fuel filter changed and out of the way, if you do not have any code reading software take the battery neg ff for half hour and allow the ecu to reset therefore clearing any codes.. Give the throttle body a good clean out with carb cleaner if you haven't already, take the MAP sensor out of the boost pipe half way between the throttle body and the intercooler and wipe that off carefully.

Run some injector cleaner through the fuel tank.

Shame your not nearby, I next plan to be in Manchester in late June, but hopefully we can diagnose/resolve this by then..

I'd be looking at injectors next I think.. get someone with Vauxcom or TechII to do a full diag on the car and some data logging..

also worth changing the CTS - these can cause all sorts of issues when they fail as they can overfuel etc...
