Default U480 code reader picking up no faults? Spanner Light is on though....

    The saga continues...

2006 1.9cdti 150 So I bought the car not long ago & the spanner light was on when i bought it.

Since then it's gone into limp mode a few times.

U480 scanner bought & plugged in today & it brings up no faults at all???

I am doing it in right - pugging it in - turning the ign on - then sanning but it brings up no codes.

I've tried resetting too but the spanner light stays on.

    What's going on? Any ideas?

I have a U480 and it reads fault codes on my cdti 150 and also clears the spanner. You are doing it correctly. However, not always when I have a spanner, does the ECU store a code. I would advise if the spanner is not being cleared then either you have a faulty code reader or your car has a permanent fault and it is being reset but is immediately being turned back on.

My wife's Streetka has the light on for faulty upstream lambda.
When you try and reset the light it immediately comes straight back on.
It does however spit out the fault code..
My scanner is also a U480.

    WE HAVE NEWS!!!

So it's just come up with two faults - happy days i thought..........

    1. P0157
    2. N/A

I've had a look & 157 points at O2 sensor - am i being a fool but shouldn't that be for just petrol cars?

And what on earth is NA?

And lastly the spanner light still isn't clearing when I erase the codes.......joy.

    Any ideas?

The 1, Is this a Z19DTH engine?, P0157 is 'Low Voltage'. First check you have a voltage supply at the sensor on Pin 4 which should be a Red/White Tracer wire, this is an Ignition feed that comes via a relay and through F15 (10 Amp fuse). Make sure none of the wiring is burnt on the exhaust and grounding the signal, if nothing obvious then connect scan tool and look at live data for sensor it may have failed. It looks to me like it's a 'wide band sensor'. Hope this is of some use. If you replace this sensor make sure you get the numbers off it and replace with a good and well known make like NGK, Denso or Bosch. Kev

Kev that's great - Any ideas of part numbers?

Or can you find it in any of the diagrams on http://opeloem.com/vauxhall/signum_2003_/

    Thanks
