    Default EML light problem

    Car Details: 2005 Signum 2.0DTI

    I've been getting some serious limp modes on and off while driving today and yesterday so first thing i did was checked all the hoses, i found a split in one of them so ive taped that up until i get a replacement, so i turned the car on the spanner light has gone off from limp mode and i gave it a quick blast round the street and the eml light has come on and it drives like its in limp mode but no spanner light on the dash.

    if anyone can give me a bit of help it would be useful

    also ive just checked the oil level is low but i dont know if that will matter

    mine did the same
    i had a split in the inter cooler hose
    the turbo would spool up next time it would not and went in to limp home mode

    ordered a new pipe yesterday come this morning fitted it just before i left work and seemed ok
    but the main test is in the morning as i have more hills to go up

    what pipe split on yours

    well ive replaced the one near the battery and found a split in the s shape one tonight but now its not going in limp mode with a spanner sign on the dash it just always has the eml light on and drives like its in limp mode.
    ive decided to call the RAC out and see what they think im lost for ideas.

    Well the RAC says new erg valve and sensor not what i wanted to hear

    i would not do anything till you fix the hoses
    and i just done the one by the battery had rubbed agaist a water pipe

    mine went into limp home mode but did not put any lights on

    ive had a few split hoses on differnet cars and this just didnt feel like a split hose limp miode if that sounds right. normally when i had a split hose it was just no driving above 70 and no high revs and the car was fine, the way it is now i was driving round town doing max speed of 15mph and it was going into limp each time. i might be wrong but ive gone for a new hose and a egr valve so ive just got to wait for the parts to get here and see if it solves it really, ive never cleaned the egr valve so i wouldnt be surprised that its gone.
    its a lot easier getting codes seen too by the RAC than paying the garage, i got him to clear the codes but once the engine starts they come back so ive got to not start the engine until the new parts are on then it shouldnt need taking to a garage to be cleared after.
    so my plan is friday night it should be sorted and working

    i would take off the egr and clean it before you get a new one and if it still comes on clean the inlet manifold there is a how 2 for a 2.2 dti on here and it the same . mine came on all the time and garage told me new egr. so someone on here said clean it and i have had no problem since

    You could get your own code reader off fleabay £20, that way you can diagnose and clear faults yourself. From diagnosing you can repair most faults yourself without too much cost.

    Do they work well? I just thought too cheap to do anything
