Default SRi 2.0 CDTI 160 auto, thoughts.

Following on from my thread about the 1.8 Exclusive due to Evans Halshaw's offer not being that great in the end and from what I read underpowered we have now started looking at the 2.0 CDTI SRi auto's for the old man.
He's never had a diesel before and a bit wary but given the other engine variants in the range could this be ideal for him, at mo he's got a 2.6 Omega.
Any advice will be greatly received.

I drove one of these recently on a test drive mate - being an auto it's really easy to drive with all the torque available...

I really liked mine. Very smooth and very torquey. They can sound a little gruff when giving it some but a nice package.

Hi mate, I had a 2.6 auto Omega and now have a 160 Insignia auto, although the Omega was a great drive the Insignia is far superior, this is also my first diesel and I was a bit sceptical at first at how it would perform as an auto, but I have to say it's brilliant, really smooth and pulls through the gears like a train, and feels really planted, once the warrenty's out I plan to drop it on eibachs and get it remapped.

Not really, uses the M1 from Luton to Hemel Hempstead for work so about 15-20 miles.
Before the 2.6 Omega he had a 2.0 one and was always moaning about the lack of performance uphill.

Just bear in mind Bigmacs issues with the Insignia albeit a 120 but so far brake issues, DMF (although the auto doesn't have this), clutch, EGR valves, and his latest the EGR cooler which has cracked and cost £700 to replace a common fault apparently with no alternate part, make sure there is plenty of warranty
I am not saying don't but just a heads up thats all
