    Default Windscreen Washers

Just went out to fit my Insignia windscreen washers and it turns out i have heated washers fitted to the car, are they standard on the GSI?

It was a nice suprise but was looking forward to the mist type jet spray of the Insignia jets.

So i take it's just a simple case of unplugging the switches for the heated washers and jobs a good un?

And how are the heated ones activated, do they come on with the heated rear screen like the side mirrors?

Alan, you may want to look into this as there was a recall on the early GSis and Elites as there was a fire hazard from the heated washer jets

The recall involved disconnecting the jets but there is now a revised wiring loom/jets

    Oh dont say that Lol,

How would i find out if mine was re-called? it may just be safer to remove and fit the Insignia jets.

Open your bonnet, pull off the rubber seal at the back, and open the scuttle panel on the passenger side so you can see the pollen filter. Next to the pollen filter is a socket where the heated washer jet loom plugs in.

If you've had the recall, you'll find either there's nothing plugged into it and there's no loom going to the jets, or there's a loom going to the jets but it's unplugged, or there's a loom going to the jets that's been cut and insulated with tape. Some dealers replaced the jets with non-heated ones, some just disabled the heaters by unplugging or cutting the cable...

Most pre-facelifts (other than poverty spec models) have the socket, but not necessarily the heated jets. There's a how-to on fitting them.
