    Default Wheels on E-Bay

Recently bid for some 17" Signum alloys on e-bay, got pipped in the last 5 secs, but have had a second chance ' cos the winner cant complete the transaction' anyway he wont give me his phone number or address, his paypal is unavailable at the moment and wants me to pay cash through Western Union and he'll pay all the fees, postage etc, and he wants the money sent to a different area to where he lives, i've blown them out cos it all sounds well dodgy, have i done the right thing?

Absolutely m8,that sounds well dodgy!! That's a very popular scam. You send money to a Western Union account and you never see it again. When you try and trace it you find that you can't.

That's probably why the original winning bidder didn't complete.

You haven't missed out on a bargain, you've just avoided being stitched up. There'll be other wheels in the future.

The usual Western Union scam. When are E-bay going to put a stop to this. There are so many people conned in this way. My son got ripped off for phones a couple of years back when it was not as well known. Cost him over £100 but taught him a lesson as he did'nt tell me first!!!

Ebay is a complete joke people are getting ripped off every day, my son also got ripped off over a mobile phone we even payed using paypal, phone never turned up made a claim with ebay had to wait months to get anyware eventually got reimbersed by the credit card company the worst thing was ebay new the phone was never going to turn up all along, because the the person who did it was the famous welsh school boy who had been ripping people for over two years, he even made the bbc news and the police reckoned he made over £70,000 from ebay he was awaiting sentance when he did us, ebay just dont care they still get there fees.
