    Default Broken Eibach spring..

Just taken my car for a pre MOT inspection to one of my pals garage and we found one off the rear Eibachs are broken, must admit up until Andrew(honigstrauss) posted the other day i don't recall many (if any) broken aftermarket springs, never mine Eibachs..

    Picture off the damage..

Ok, what is the general consensus on what are the best springs on the market for a vectra 2.0 turbo hatch, excluding Eibachs as i haven't been keen on them since fitted!

H&R, are they the weapons of choice, or can you guys persuade me towards something else..?

Thats a first, you must have really hit something hard. I have never come across a broken Eibach before. How old are they as they have a long warranty.
Eibachs would be my choice on the replacements but I believe H&R are good.

It was fitted on february 08, just got Eibachs Uk number so will call them tomorrow. I bought the kit from Motorsport world in Strathaven and they are excellent to deal with and also keep superb records!

Million mile warranty apparently, see what they say in the AM. Yeah the roads aren't very good up here, so every corner is a pothole dance..

Bad luck Steven. I've tried all day to get a set of H&Rs, none in the country, so they're coming from Germany, 7 to 10 working days. I'll just have to put the old (one broken) springs back on so that I can get about until they arrive. I spent quite a while researching on the net what the Germans were putting on their Signums and it seemed to be largely H&Rs. It's a slightly bigger drop which might not be wise given our roads but I think they'll look good. But I noticed that the Irmscher springs, and I suppose Eibachs will be the same, got much narrower towards the end where it broke off on mine. This must be how they get them to soak up small bumps but I'd say it's a weak point. From the pictures, the H&Rs seem to be the same thickness all the way and are progressively wound. I think Ian Highlander has H&Rs so maybe he could keep us right. If you want, you can have my unbroken spring when my new ones arrive to tide you over but it's probably not going to last much longer anyway.

I think I have exactly the same problem Steve, i'll find out this weekend. Only down side it's I bought them of a member from here who sold up, they only have 1-2k on them but came with no original sale receipt. Dont bin your good one, if mines shot we might have to come to an arrangement.

Andrew, if Eibach don't play ball warranty wise(which im not holding my breath over) then i will follow suit down the H&R route. Mark1319 was the original one to fit H&R springs years ago, when his car was beside mine it was sitting way better at the front.

Steve, yeah no worries buddy, i will let you know the score later today..

Cobra, they have been ok for about 35k miles. The fronts got changed as Eibach supplied the higher rated springs by mistake, they have only about 20k on them..

Looks like this is going to be a warranty claim which i must admit i'm surprised about. I bought the springs in October '07 and they were fitted in february '08, the standard eibach warranty on the pro kit is 5 years - no quibbles!
Looks like i have to pay for rears (£108!!) and then once they are delivered and fitted, send the broken pair back for a full refund under warranty(sorry Steve), so hopefully this should be all sorted under warranty within the next week....very good service from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ who i originally bought the kit from and hopefully Eibach in the next week or so..
