    Default 2.2 direct MPG Problem

Ok first off sorry for another MPG thread but its starting to to get silly lol....

Ok I have a 2.2 direct 16v auto with 59k miles, services twice yearly (intrim/main) with an additional oil change. Last service was main serice mid december 2011.

In past 6-12 months its had the following:
    High pressure fuel pump (jun11)
    Fuel regulator (jun11)
    cat back exhaust (jan11)
    New spark plugs (dec11)

up untill november last year when I filled up my range would always say 310 miles and I would manage around 320-360 miles (26-29mpg) with 75% town 25% motorway.........Then since november when I fill up I get 270 range and only manage 260-290 miles from a tank (21-24mpg)

I have tried everything I can think of, changed all filters, service, check brakes not sticking, checked for fuel leaks. I only run on v-power and momentum....

My mate said he thinks my exhaust as a very slight blow from a joint But this was only fitted end jan so cant be that. 2 weeks ago my eml came on had the code read and it was oxygen sensor, but it was cleaned with fuel, tested and is working fine now.....

Any ideas guys before I take it to vauxhall and get my wallet robbed

Just to add pre november on a motorway run I would see 38+MPG in cruise at 70 mph.....
Did a long run 3 weeks ago and only managed 32-35mpg

Mostly down to the cold weather. During winter the MPG in my 2.2 direct drops 3 to 5 mpg.

Dave, As it's cold outside, the car will run cooler. because it's getting so much cool air, so hence the coolant temp sensor's picking this up. just bear with it for the time with it for the mean time. I have to say that mines doing 330 miles to a tank at the mo, and mine does the same sort of work as yours by the sound of it!

Just for reference, i have the same car with pretty much the same mileage. Mine is doing 32mpg around town, and 38-42mpg on the motorway. I use regular unleaded fuel. The mpg dropped by about 5mpg over the winter months, apart from that it is pretty consistent. The only extra thing I had done was a clean out of the throttle body.

Dunno why you're telling me for. I know why my MPG is worse in winter. My car until recently was actually running hotter due to a faulty stat and the engine running at 90 to 94 deg c. New stat in now and it tends to run at 82 to 84 deg c. Made no difference to the MPG though. Still crap until the weather warms up.
