Default Interior Light - Cost cutting again??

    Quick question.......

My previous Vectra was a 2002 pre-face LS, and it had a small light up on the roof, near the rear-view mirror, that shone down and provided a small amount of illumination when you had the lights on. Wasn't much, but I liked it.

Current car is now a facelift 2006 SRi, and I no longer seem to have this. Did this go for a burton along with the sunglasses holder and the cigarette lighter/ashtray light?

Wasn't this actually on the bottom of the rear view mirror? I got hold of an auto-dim mirror and there's a tiny light on the base that would (in theory, if I ever fitted it) shine down on the gearstick area.

    Default

ambient lighting led on the base of the rear view mirror was fitted to early models, dropped for costcutting i suppose. Had them on my 51 reg laguna, a nice touch imo.

Sounds like that may well have been it then. I knew the light was up in that region, just couldn't recall exactly where it was fitted.

Just seems ridiculous that the old LS had all these wee things that the SRi doesn't. Ruddy penny-piching to the max, that's all it is!!

My 06 SRi didn't have the sunglasses holder, illuminated vanity mirrors, LED lit courtesy light / map reading light buttons or rear passenger courtesy lights yet these are all fitted to my late 58 plate SRi. VX obviously went through a cost cutting exercise during the main production phases then towards the end of the model run they loaded the run out builds with items from the soon to be defunct parts list!

Of all of these I like the LED lit overhead buttons the most. Nice touch.

Just retro fit it. Sure someone has one for sale on here. Pick up a roof loom from the scrappys dirt cheap. Just get a piece of glass tint film to blacken out the bit where the cover sits.

I'll maybe look into that sometime, cheers. Not quite sure where you mean using the tint film on though?

Have contented myself by going ordering a sunglasses holder from the dealers today instead.
