Default Slight clunk when you engage a gear

So - neighbour asked me to look at his car (vec C cdti 120 manual)

When he is driving or in 1st waiting to go off, if he lifts the clutch as the gear engages you can hear a clunk..

Its not a harsh clunk/bang, its more where something is engaging..

When driving if you lift the clutch quickly you can hear it then...

Drop links were brand new about 3 months ago and aparently that didnt make a difference..

Any ideas - or had this before?

I didnt jack it up and see if I can feel any movement in anything, I guess thats the next point?

As in selector? Its not when you select the gear - its when you lift the clutch and the drive engages i.e. the bite point..

Bamg could be coming from the clutch bearing, is it using brake fluid?
