    Default Re-mapping the 2.0 CDTI (160)

Wife's due to swap her car next year, 2.0 CDTI (160) Astra for a 2.0 CDTI (160) Insignia.

If I got either of these remapped what sort of bhp increase would I be looking at?

    Hi ya,

As far as I'm aware there is no one offering a remap!

Lots of tuning boxes available though. There is a company in Germany that offers a remap and on insignia-enthusiast the chap pit up of photo of the rolling road results and he achieved 208bhp and 450 ft torque.

Apparently the ecu is very hard to crack and if you do manage it it will void the warranty if you have one left.

    Food for thought eh

    Jon

Depending on the age of the car it can be done. I know of a company that has done it to a 58 plate Insignia. Early 09 plate ones should be good too. The 58 plate I know of that was done is probably touching 195ish, possibly more. I think it's going on a rolling road soon anyway to find out. Having been out in it though I know it's SCARY how quick it goes through the gears. Tuning companies will always be looking to crack the latest software though so it'll happen sooner or later.

What about the Irmscher tuning box?

If it's like the rest of the Irmscher parts then it will be GM approved and the warranty will remain intact?

Bit pricey at £697.00 to get 180Bhp & 414 Nm of torque but i guess it depends how much you value your warranty.

    The part number is i7506002

Later Insignias/Astras are more difficult, if not impossible to remap. Even if it can be done, I wouldn't advise it if car is in warranty as the ECU will easily give it away.

58/09 and early 59 plate 2.0 CDTI's are easy anything later is nigh on impossible - if money is short, or just plain expensive. I would rather wait until someone cracks it. As Vauxhall have now introduced their 5 year/100,000mile lifetime warranty I don't think it's something most will take up for a while.
